VII WINTER SCHOOL IN EUROPEAN STUDIES

From February 17th to 21st, 2024, the online VII Winter School in European Studies convened over 45 participants from across Ukraine, focusing on European integration's legal and political dimensions. Particular attention was paid to the current state of EU-Ukraine cooperation and the legal and political aspects of Ukraine's accession. The JMCE WURCES staff members Prof. Mykhailo Mykievych, Dr. Oksana Krayevska, Dr. Vasyl Zelenko, and experts Dr. Marianna Hladysh, Dr. Natalia Voytovych presented diverse aspects of the European integration focusing on legal, political, social, security and media aspects and the policy-making in the EU. The event was organized in collaboration with the National University "Kyiv-Mohyla Academy," the EU Information Center of the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, the Law School of Lviv University, and the Jean Monnet Center of Excellence "Western Ukrainian Research Center for European Studies." During the opening of the Winter School, Dr. Oksana Holovko-Havrysheva, Head of the JMCE WURCES, emphasized the importance of strengthening EU cooperation amidst current uncertainties. EU4UA project coordinator Prof. Olena Boryslavska highlighted the crucial role of legal education in fostering the effectiveness of the EU-Ukraine cooperation. UESA Honorable President Roman Petrov addressed contemporary challenges and tensions in European integration and presented UESA’s research experiences on EU democracy support practices within the Horizon Project EMBRACE and on the European Neighbourhood Policy within the Horizon Project RE-ENGAGE.
